Lingen, a place of sparkling water, is a Herefordshire village in the wooded hills of the Marches on the border between England and Wales. Situated in the north-west corner of the county it lies just over five miles from the Welsh border. The parish includes the hamlets of Limebrook, Birtley and Willey. Lingen village offers not only a Church, Chapel, Public House and Village Hall, but also gives visitors the opportunity to sample stunning countryside walks with splendid views.

Coffee Mornings throughout the year aim to provide an arranged venue for everyone to meet up. It’s an informal social event that keeps everyone in touch with recent local news. Everyone is welcome, villagers and visitors alike, to come and go as they wish to the gathering in the meeting room on Coffee Mornings; 1st and 3rd Thursdays in each month, between 11am and 12.30pm. July is the month for routine garden maintenance and harvesting of fruit and vegetables. Deadhead herbaceous perennials and regularly cut blooms for house decoration. Deadhead roses (if ornamental hips do not follow the flowers) and give a final feed for the season. Prune the straggly new growth from wisterias.
If going on holiday move plants into the shade to reduce water demand, and if possible stand the pots in plastic saucers (near a water supply if a kind neighbour has agreed to water them). Read the rest of this entry »

If you have ever harboured a secret desire to take to the dance floor but have felt too shy or bashful to try a few moves, a new local dance initiative that is kicking off this autumn in Lingen could be the answer. Dare to Dance is for anyone who has ever wanted to learn some dance steps or brush up on their dance moves in a friendly and relaxed environment. The date for Kinsham’s Classics of Yesteryear Annual show has been arranged for the Sunday 2nd August 2-6pm. If anyone is interested in helping with the organisation or on the day please send an email to this website and we will forward it on to the organisers.
The show is held at the Arkwright Hall, Kinsham and includes Classic Cars, Commercials, Buses, Tractors, Motor Cycles and Stationary Engines.
Bring your classic along to our friendly informal show.
